Traffic clears after Bruce Hwy crash

LATEST: CONGESTION warnings for the Bruce Hwy at Glenview and Tanawha, Steve Irwin Way and Caloundra Rd have been cancelled. 

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is no longer advising drivers to expect delays after a crash at the Sunshine Mwy off ramp at Tanawha just before 8am. 

The crash closed a north-bound lane and was cleared by 9am but congestion continued for some time afterwards. 

Two people were taken to Nambour General Hospital as a result of the crash, one suffering neck and back pain, the other was transported with spinal precautions.

Both patients were in a stable condition.

UPDATE 9am: CONGESTION is affecting traffic on the Bruce Hwy, Steve Irwin Way and Caloundra Rd this morning.

A crash at the Sunshine Mwy off ramp at Tanawha just before 8am caused delays northbound. 

Northbound traffic has been delayed on Steve Irwin Way from Mooloolah through to the Bruce Hwy at Meridan Plains as a result of the crash, the Department of Transport and Main Roads has warned. 

Traffic travelling west on Caloundra Rd is being held up at the Bruce Hwy interchange. 

 

 


INITIAL REPORT: EMERGENCY services have been called to a crash in the northbound lanes of the Bruce Hwy at Tanawha.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said they had been called to a two-vehicle crash at 7.49am.

The crash scene is reportedly about 1km north of Aussie World.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads warned drivers travelling north at the Sunshine Coast Mwy exit at Tanawha to expect delays. 

The left lane is blocked and the road is heavily congested.
