Thespians gear up for next round on stage

IT'S a good thing The Indee decided to take a brief break over winter, because half the actors disappeared anyway.

Just as northern ducks fly south for the winter, so southern actors fly north.

Word is that someone on the committee is on to a nice little earner, running a freelance travel set-up.

It should have been obvious when "correspondence in" at the recent AGM consisted solely of a dozen travel brochures.

This week Ruth Montgomery was first to return, having visited England for the summer Brexit season, plus a few days of R'n'R in Barcelona, logging up 324 professional smiles along the way.

She claims that she spent a goodly part of her holidays thinking about learning her lines for the forthcoming Indee production, The Pom Pom Ladies. Ruth's most recent appearances on the Coast were in The African Queen radio show and Don't I Know You From Somewhere? The Pom Pom Ladies is a new comedy about a mature-aged group of angora-jumper knitters for charity who, bored, turn to stripping for audiences in retirement villages, to cries of "put it on, put it on".

Inger Vinogradov is another Indee thespian who winged her way north.

Her destination was Sweden, choosing the home of traditional sour herring (Surstromming) in the hope of escaping the icy blasts of Cooroy and Noosa.

Inger has graced the Indee stage in plays such as Deathtrap, Plaything and Something Nebulous and will also be part of The Pom Pom Ladies production, along with Carol Burls and three other actors still OS and yet to be cast. Other plays under consideration, to be part of the triple bill, include Altered Egos and Breaking Up Is Greasy, along with the multi-awarded three-hander Deceit. All will be decided soon-ish.
