Theo left out of Roar squad for trip to Perth

FIVE-time A-League championship-winning goalkeeper Michael Theo has been left out of Brisbane Roar's squad for Saturday night's clash against Perth Glory despite being available after serving a two-game suspension.

Jamie Young will play a third-straight game between the posts with Tom Bilic to again be his deputy gloveman in Perth.

Theo's omission perhaps points to him being used on Wednesday night in the Roar's crucial AFC Champions League clash against Japanese club Kashima Antlers at Suncorp Stadium.

If that's the case, it's a swap in duties for Theo and Young.

Since the start of the Roar's Champions League journey this year, Young has been preferred for continental duties, while Theo has been restricted to A-League action.

But Theo's not the only experienced campaigner being left in Brisbane this weekend.

Marquee man Thomas Broich, who was superb in Brisbane's 5-1 demolition of the Central Coast Mariners last Sunday, and former Greek international defender Avraam Papadopoulos also won't travel to Perth.

It's seemingly part of Aloisi's squad management as the Roar embarks on another hectic A-League and Champions League schedule.

The Glory will be boosted by the availability of Socceroo Rhys Williams, who returns from suspension, and fit-again skipper Rostyn Griffiths.

Depending on the result of Friday's clash between fourth-placed Melbourne City and Adelaide United, the Roar might only need a draw to cement third spot on the ladder.

The Glory is desperate for a win after slipping to sixth on the table due to a run of three matches without a victory.
