
Teen driver killed in island crash
A TEENAGER has died after reportedly rolling a car on Mornington Island, in the Gulf of Carpentaria yesterday.
Police said initial reports suggested a vehicle travelling on Birri Road lost control and overturned about 6.30pm.
The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other passengers all boys aged 17, 14, 13 and 12 were also injured.
Two teenagers were taken to Mornington Island Hospital for minor injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
