NOT to be outdone by the first Mockingjay Part 2 trailer, Sam Mendes has given James Bond fans a new teaser for upcoming 007 movie Spectre.

The one-minute long fresh look at Daniel Craig in the lead dropped during the NBA Finals on US TV last night - safe to say, he's still rocking the iconic role fourth time around.

Due in Australian cinemas on November 6, Spectre boasts a star-studded cast with the likes of Christoph Waltz and Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci joining returning actors Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, Rory Kinnear and Naomie Harris.

The new clip sees Bond confronted with accusations that he is keeping a secret he "can't tell anyone because he doesn't trust anyone". It's all dark and ominous before dramatic music heralds the start of a montage of Alps-based shooting, car chases, plane crashes and explosions - the first look at Spectre's action sequences.

Fans will then be left weak at the knees as Bond mutters his most famous line "Bond, James Bond" while caught in a clinch with Bellucci's character Lucia.

While details of Spectre's plot remain under wraps, the official synopsis reads: "In Spectre, a cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization.

"While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre."

A new full-length trailer is expected to debut in cinemas before Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, as Skyfall's did before The Bourne Legacy in 2012.

Whether Spectre will surpass the US$1,000 million plus that Skyfall grossed worldwide remains to be seen.
