Slain bikie had family crisis in lead up to death
NOTORIOUS bikie Shane Bowden had been rocked by a family crisis just weeks before being shot dead in an execution-style murder.
Bowden, who recently returned to the Finks bikie gang, arrived in Queensland in controversial circumstances when he lied on his COVID-19 declaration pass upon his arrival from Melbourne in August.
Just days after leaving his enforced 14-day period of hotel quarantine, where he was heavily guarded by local police, he was rocked by a crisis involving a close family member.
Legal reasons prevent the Bulletin from detailing Bowden's ordeal.
Bowden would never see the crisis resolve after being gunned down in his Pimpama unit garage by a least two hooded men as he returned home from a late-night gym session on Monday about 12.10am.
He was shot a number of times to the head and chest at point-blank range.
The murder was so swift the lights on the car were still on when police arrived.
Police believe his killing may be linked to an internal fuel within the Victorian Mongols.
He had recently been expelled from the club after being released from prison in June.
Bowden's death has sparked a major investigation with up to 80 police working on the case, including 60 detectives.
Detectives are sifting through hundreds of hours of CCTV footage from the unit complex, nearby houses and businesses as well as dashcam footage.
The shooters remained on the run on Thursday night.
In an unrelated operation by the bikie-busting task force Maxima three alleged Mongols bikies were arrested on Thursday, two of whom were charged with drug and related offences.
During the raid of a Labrador property found steroids, a small amount of cannabis, cash and mobile phones.
Bowden's ex-partner Trudi McPhee paid tribute to him again on Thursday saying she was glad she kept his voicemails and all letters.
"They will be with me forever," she wrote on one of his photos. "He will always be my world. We had big plans together again, he was just waiting on my answer to be honest. I don't know how I am going to get through all of this."
Bowden's young son also added he wished could hear his dad's voice one more time.
