RIDE THE BUS: Trains shut down for track upgrades
Buses will replace trains on Sunshine Coast train lines this weekend due to essential maintenance and upgrade work.
Head of TransLink Matt Longland said the closure would be from the first service on Saturday until the last service on Sunday.
“Tracks will be closed on all northern train lines except the Ferny Grove, Airport and Doomben lines,” Mr Longland said.
“In addition to Cross River Rail works, general track and signalling maintenance will be undertaken including overhead line equipment, and rail and ballast replacement works.
“The closure will also allow works such as re-roofing, electrical works, platform raising, station upgrades, footbridge maintenance, tactile floor replacement, cleaning and painting across select stations.
“Timetabled rail replacement buses will run from Bowen Hills station north to Shorncliffe, Kippa-Ring, and Gympie North stations from the first train Saturday until the last train on Sunday.”
Mr Longland said northbound buses would be unable to stop at Dakabin station due to station upgrade work.
Passengers will need to alight at Petrie station, where an as-required bus will be available to shuttle customers back to Dakabin station.
Customers planning to travel during the closure are encouraged to use journey planner to find ideal travel times and connections, including customers going to Sunday AFL games.
