Queensland 'Hillarygate' email row dogs Cabinet
THE State Government's top bureaucrat has been tasked with investigating a widening email scandal that is dogging the Cabinet.
In a case reminiscent of failed US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's controversial use of a private email server, the probe follows revelations of further examples of the use of private email accounts by ministers and staff conducting official business.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk told State Parliament she had asked her director-general, Dave Stewart, to investigate following revelations that Energy Minister Mark Bailey and staff in another ministerial office had been caught using their own email accounts rather than their official ones.
Mr Bailey deleted his account after correspondence from Electrical Trades Union powerbroker Peter Simpson to his Yahoo! account was revealed.
The deletion means access to any other correspondence under the Right to Information Act could be hampered.
