Palmwoods’ vandalism victims need help

THE family whose Palmwoods' home was trashed by vandals desperately need your help.

While Danielle and Chad Watts and their two children will need your clothes, furniture and cash donations to help replace everything they lost, what they need is more pressing.

They need a home to rent.

Palmwoods' Primary School Chaplain, Jenny Schleusener, said the family were staying with other family and friends while they tried to find a place to live.

The home they were staying in was so comprehensively and maliciously damaged by vandals using paint, bleach, eggs, milk and cat faeces, it has been declared unliveable during the clean-up.

But the Watts's have no plans to ever return. "They never want to go back there," Ms Schleusener said.

They also don't want to live in the Palmwoods or Nambour area again.

The Watts don't want a mansion.

They simply need a three bedroom home that can house them and their two cats and two small dogs.

"The dogs are all registered and well-behaved," Ms Schleusener said.

The maximum they can afford is $420 a week.

The family has been so moved by the generosity of the Sunshine Coast community since their home was trashed last week.

But the problem is they have nowhere to put the donations and they children have to be split between friends.

While they are hoping to find a permanent rental, they will "take what they can get".

"If something is available short term they can look at it so it will give them some space to find something better.

"They need to be with their kids."
