ONE of Noosa Lions young stand-out footballers is moving on to bigger things with the blessing and encouragement of the club.

Recently the club announced: "We are very pleased for our 2017 Young Player of the Year Taj Suffolk has signed for Olympic FC.”

"Good luck Taj, thank you for your effort at the Den (last season), the effort and commitment you showed throughout the year was outstanding.”

The Olympic FC management said it was "excited to unveil the signing of Australian U19 Schoolboy representative”.

"The talented teenager has been playing for Noosa Lions Football Club under the expert guidance of Kevin A'Herne- Evans.

"In his time under Evans, Suffolk played an integral role in the most miserly defensive unit of the Sunshine Coast Premier League, a goal he will be sure to aim for with Olympic FC.”

Olympic head coach Ben Cahn said: "Taj is a top young talent. He's physically very strong and quick, he's a smart footballer with great communication skills.

"He had a very good year with Noosa Lions, winning the Sunshine Coast Premier League where he was also part of the back line that had best defensive record in the competition

"He was lucky to have worked with Kevin (A'Herne)-Evans who has helped him mature and develop on and off the pitch into a really strong player.

"His enthusiasm and desire to succeed will be great for our environment. I look forward to seeing him become an important part of our squad and our success.”

Noosa signed Suffolk back in 2016 after he gained rave reviews for his performances for Sunshine Coast U16 NPL side where he regularly featured in the U18 representative as well and A'Herne-Evans at the time noted: "I believe Taj can and will kick on to a higher level in no time.”

At his Noosa signing, Suffolk cited his the chance to "develop and work with the very good players at the club and also Kevin” as his reasons for going to Noosa.

"Noosa Football Club is a great club, passionate about development and has good history of player development.”

Meanwhile, registration is now open to play for Noosa this season with the main sign-on day Saturday, February 3 from 9am -3pm.
