New luxury resort opens at popular Coast beach

THE Coast's newest hotel has opened up in a luxury apartment building opposite one of the region's most popular beaches.

Choice Hotels Asia-Pac has unveiled its 57-room resort in ARIA's newly-constructed Breeze development at the busy tourist suburb.

The Breeze hotel at Mooloolaba will form part of Choice's Ascend collection as a top-tier accommodation option.

The resort will feature 30 self-contained, one or two-bedroom apartments over 10 levels with pool, spa, and recreation facilities and a babysitting services.

Choice added Breeze to its portfolio in late-December, as the summer crowds flocked to the region to enjoy the Christmas break.

The 30 holiday apartments make up about half of the 57-unit development, providing a near-50/50 mix of residential and holiday units in the new building.

The Choice chain has more than 270 hotels across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, totalling more than 11,000 rooms.

Choice Hotels Asia-Pac chief executive officer Trent Fraser said the addition of the Breeze resort made sense given the increasing visitor numbers to the region and its proximity to the Sunshine Coast Airport.

"Mooloolaba is a hidden gem on the Sunshine Coast and with visitor numbers up 19.6% in the last quarter of 2016 in comparison to 2015, it has become a prime location for both local and international travellers," he said.
