THE SUNSHINE Coast has locked in a new, world first festival: but get in quick, tickets are on sale tomorrow.
The Color Movement is holding the globally debuting festival on the Sunshine Coast, hoping to inspire people of all shapes and sizes from across South-East Queensland to get outdoors, active, and messy this October.
The Sunshine Coast Council has joined forces with Aratis Events, the same people who brought the Color Run to the Coast.
Aratis Events marketing manager Tim Wiche said the Color Movement was all about "the next generation of active".
"It's really about getting every Australian outdoors," he told 7 Sunshine Coast.
"Sometimes they need an extra bit of inspiration and we've got colour and music to help them do that."
From the creators of The Color Run, The Color Movement is a new, all-ages colour festival series looking to inspire the next generation of activeness - no matter your fitness level, body size or shape.
The festival promises a day of confetti tornadoes, slime fights, dance tunes, water bomb battles, clouds of coloured foam, massive colour fights - and no five kilometre run.
Mr Wiche said an overwhelming 10,000 votes were cast to hold the Color Movement on the Sunshine Coast.
"We've received over 10,000 votes for your city," he said.
"It's going to be... four hours of absolute banging music and a colour festival.
Will you go to the Color Movement, a new fitness festival debuting next month on the Coast?
This poll ended on 29 August 2017.
Yes - looks like fun!
Not really - why pay to exercise?
It's a good idea but it should raise money for charity or something too.
This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.
"It's going to be absolutely amazing.
"The Color Movement is to get as many people active as possible and to spread what we are at the Color Run, which is about happiness, healthiness, and individuality.
"Tickets are on sale (tomorrow) and we've only got 4000 so make sure you get them as quickly as possible."
Tourism, Sport and Major Events Portfolio Councillor Jason O'Pray said today's announcement that Sunshine Coast Stadium would be the first venue to host this global event was phenomenal.
"We loved hosting The Color Run on the Coast and to add The Color Movement to our major events calendar is a huge achievement for this region," Cr O'Pray said.
"The Color Run was definitely one of my family's favourite events on the Coast and we will definitely be lining up to experience one of the coolest events on the planet."
The Sunshine Coast Stadium will host The Color Movement on October 21.
