Month-long job search over in an hour, thanks to this sign
REX Fairbrother had been unemployed since April.
The frustrated Cooran man is a fully-qualified crane operator with 30 years' experience.
However, after months of unsuccessful online applications, he grew "sick” of looking for work through agencies.
So he took it upon himself to get a job, all without the help of advertising, online services or support.
All it took was an old-fashioned, hand-written sign and an hour later a job was secured.
"Work wanted, white card, HC licence, crane licence 30 years, dogging, excavator licence, own transport,” his sign read.
By Wednesday he will be behind the wheel driving trucks.
"I got sick of applying for jobs online, there are too many bludgers out there,” Mr Fairbrother said.
"So I thought f--- it. I'm going to make up some signs and go out on the street.
"There is plenty of work out there, you've just got to find it yourself sometimes.
"It worked a treat, just longer than an hour and I've found work through a truckie.
"It is the only way to go I think.”
