McCulloch among the top chances for Junior Surfing Title

SURFING: The Sunshine Coast's rising surf stars are set to compete in the pointy end of the Australian Junior Surfing Titles during the next few days.

Laura Poncini, Vittoria Farmer and Sophie McCulloch are scheduled to compete in the semi-finals of the under-18 girls division at North Stradboke Island.

McCulloch should be among the favourites to snare the silverware, after claiming a top-10 place at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships at California in October.

Meanwhile, Caloundra's Luke Glover is through to the semi-finals of the under-16 boys section.

But Aaron Kelly's foray has come to an end. He was knocked out in the quarter finals of the under-18 boys section.

The event also includes a schools team competition, in which a host of Sunshine Coasters are still in contention in many divisions.
