Mass outages: 800 Coast homes still without power
Almost 1000 homes and businesses on the Sunshine Coast remain without power as result of the savage overnight storms which recorded 380 lightning strikes.
Mother Nature saves its best for last on Wednesday, sending down at least 77MM in parts of the region.
As of 9am on Thursday, homes and businesses in Pacific Paradise (510), Maroochydore (208), Buderim (109), Kandanga (19) and Amamoor (10) have been cut off.
An Energex spokesman said crews were working hard to restore power.
"We are looking at mid-morning as an aim to get it all back on," the spokesman said.
The homes and businesses still cut off are down from more than 2000 during the height of last night's storm.
The spokesman said the wild weather "packed a punch".
"These storms were really powerful and bands were rolling through," he said.
"From midday yesterday to 8am this morning we counted 380 lightning strikes across the whole of southeast Queensland."
