Man catches teen alleged to have broken into his home

A 60-YEAR-OLD man has detained a teenager who allegedly broke into his Buddina home in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Dave Harbison said the 60-year-old victim confronted the juvenile who was allegedly in the process of rifling through his house.

“There was a short tussle and the juvenile was detained,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Harbison said.

Police were called about 2am.

Det Act Snr Sgt Harbison said property allegedly found in the possession of the juvenile has been linked to a number of offences in the Aroona Ave area.

He said they were alleged thefts from vehicles and break-ins to houses.

“I’d ask any residents around that area firstly make sure your vehicles are locked.

“Secondly, if you do notice any property missing, please contact Crime Stoppers.”
