Man accused of robbery with a pitchfork to face court today
THE man accused of robbing a Palmwoods pharmacy with a pitchfork on Saturday is waiting in the watch house ahead of his appearance in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court.
The man will face three charges, including robbery with actual violence armed and wilful damage.
It is alleged he used the pitchfork to try demand prescription medicine from an employee and then smashed through the hinterland pharmacy's glass door.
He was allegedly apprehended by members of the public in a nearby street and taken into custody.
A 36-YEAR-OLD Narangba man is in police custody facing a hearing in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday after allegedly robbing the Palmwoods Capital Pharmacy with a pitchfork.
Police allege the man entered the Margaret Street premises at about quarter to three carrying a pitchfork and demanding prescription medication.
He was handed several boxes of drugs and left smashing the glass door with the pitchfork on the way out.
Police allege he fled on foot but was apprehended by three passers by and held until police arrived.
Palmwoods Police Sergeant Crowley charged the man with entering a premises with intent, armed robbery and wilful damage.
He will be held in custody until an appearance in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court Monday morning.
No one is believed to have been injured in the incident.
Palmwoods Capital Pharmacy is at Shop Three, Kolara Place, 2 Margaret Street Palmwoods.
It is closed Sunday as it normally is but appeared to have been open Saturday beyond its advertised 12.30pm closing time.
