Last Python show to be streamed around the world

TICKETS for their final shows sold out in just 43 seconds, but Australians will still be able to watch the last show of Monty Python's reunion.

The British comedy veterans behind Monty Python - John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, and Terry Jones - are reuniting for a new show in their first major collaboration in 30 years.

Titled The Last Night of Monty Python, the final show they perform on July 20 will now be streamed to 1500 movie theatres around the world after popular demand.

While details are a closely guarded secret, the shows are tipped to include some of the group's famous sketches.

Idle remained tight-lipped, but said there would be "a little comedy, a lot of pathos, some music and a tiny bit of ancient sex".

Cleese added: "People really want to see the old hits, but we don't want to do them in a predictable way.

"The main danger we have is that the audience know the scripts better than we do."

The last show will be broadcast to theatres in Australia, the US, Sweden, Poland and Russia.
