Kawana teen wins photographic contest category

YOUNG Kawana photographer Ellie Josephs has won top honours in the 28th annual Heritage Bank Photographic Awards.

Ellie, of Birtinya. won the Young Photographer Award for the 14-17 years category with her entry "Heart it Races”.

The winners of the prestigious national contest were announced in a special presentation at the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba.

Ipswich's Robert Skidmore took out the Open Category for his shot "Monster of November”, while New South Wales' Chris Duczynski won the "Promises” Themed Category for his surf-inspired shot "The Promises of Waves”. Edwin Mangabat's "Tranquility” was named runner-up in the Themed Category and also took out the inaugural Alwyn Kucks Memorial Award for best shot from a Toowoomba region photographer.
