'Impasse' for jurors in attempted murder trial
THE jury at Jason Angus Conlon's attempted murder trial was unable to reach a unanimous decision after a day of deliberations.
Mr Conlon, 42, admitted causing grievous bodily harm to a man in Sippy Downs but has denied it was attempted murder.
At 3pm on Monday, a Brisbane Supreme Court jury supplied a note to Justice Ann Lyons, indicating it was at an "impasse" and had not reached a unanimous decision.
Mr Conlon injured Peter Marion in a late-night incident in Statesman Circuit, Sippy Downs, on November 13, 2013.
"I was just totally off my head," Mr Conlon testified last week.
Defence barrister Carl Martinovic told the trial his sleep-deprived client was assaulted in Rockhampton "maybe 48 hours" before visiting the Statesman Circuit house.
Prosecutor David Finch said Mr Conlon stabbed Mr Marion and intended to kill him.
The jury is expected to continue deliberations on Tuesday. - NewsRegional
