TEDxNoosa ideas forum promises to inspire

IDEAS worth spreading: what a brilliant focus for a conference.

I have to admit to being an inspiration-talk junkie.

So when I heard that TEDx, the local, independent spin-off from the global TED conference and online video phenomenon was coming to town, I got excited.

As someone who cares a lot about the effects that media has on collective well-being, I really celebrate the fact that Noosa is hosting a sister event for one of the world's most exciting inspiration-focused conferences.

Too often, headlines and TV scream about violence, destruction and conflict.

These are the bread and butter of mainstream media.

What I love about TEDx, and about papers like the Daily which tell positive stories from the community every day, is the countering effect they have on all that negativity. Business owners of the Coast need a break from that as much as anyone does.

Organisers of TEDxNoosa pride themselves on only giving the podium to the best of the best: the best ideas, communicated by the best entertainers.

Not everyone can skip off to a day-long conference at the drop of a hat. But do yourself a favour on Friday and if you aren't going to the event itself, check out at least one of the 18-minute TEDxNoosa talks that will be streamed live online at
