Have you seen my bees?

A SUNSHINE Coast beekeeper is trying to recover his missing bees after they were decimated in the recent Caloundra bushfire.

Bee Chillin beekeeper Grant Eisenmenger has been beekeeping on the Sunshine Coast for more than a decade.

He appealed to residents of the Sunshine Coast through social media to help find his missing bees.

"50 hives got burnt in the forest... in the big Aura fires,” Mr Eisenmenger said.

"(I) had them in the forest land next to the highway.”

A photo of a loose queen bee shared on social media inspired the Sippy Downs beekeeper to do a public call-out.

"I am hoping if people see a swarm of bees this spring they could give me a call and help me catch some bees to start my (recovery),” he said.

Unfortunately for Bee Chillin, the potential queen was picked up by another beekeeper, but the social media post inspired Mr Eisenmenger to put the word out to the community about his missing bees.
