Haiti launches attack on cholera
HAITI has launched a massive campaign to vaccinate against cholera in parts of the country devastated by Hurricane Matthew. The campaign targeting 820,000 people started this week. It is expected to be the world's largest. There have been 3500 suspected cases of the water-borne disease since Matthew ripped across south- west Haiti last month. By destroying water supplies and forcing people who lost homes to squeeze into overcrowded shelters, the hurricane created ideal conditions for cholera to spread.
