No major obstacles in way of new Noosa Council

NOOSA transfer manager Peter Franks says the de-amalgamation process is now "full steam ahead" with approval to enter into contracts for the provision of new IT systems.

"The process to set up the new Noosa Council is on track," Mr Franks said.

"We have developed a good working relationship with the Sunshine Coast Council and I foresee no major obstacles getting in the way of ensuring a smooth transition."

Mr Franks credits MP Glen Elmes with helping to keep the process moving ahead.

"When things have looked like they may be going awry, Glen has not hesitated in taking it up with David Crisafulli, the Minister for Local Government,'' he said.

He said the State Government had put in place a mechanism to ensure that the allocation of costs "is fair and reasonable''.
