Filmmakers launch Humans of New York-style story search
THEY'RE a professional filmmaking team that usually focusses on promoting businesses, but now they're on a mission to tell the Coast's most important stories.
Innovate Media founder Ben Amos and his small team of creatives have just embarked on a mission to find compelling tales of Sunshine Coast locals making a splash, and turn their story into a compelling mini-documentary.
"We really like the idea of an untold story, or something that is happening but people aren't aware of it," he said.
"It might be impacting a small group of people but impacting them in a big way, or an untold story that's impacting a lot of people on the Sunshine Coast but they haven't got the exposure that they maybe need."
Mr Amos and the team launched the Social Story Project last week, describing it as "like Humans of New York for the Sunshine Coast only through video".
"We need the community to help us find a local story that really matters to our region and get fully involved," he said.
The team is calling on locals to send in 30-second videos talking about a story that needs telling.
"It doesn't need to be creative, it just needs to tell the story," he said.
After entries close on July 31 the team will short list the submissions and choose one story to base a 3-5 minute documentary on.
