Coast boys take the eco-friendly world by storm
A duo of young Coast eco-warriors are attracting the attention of some big names as they join the fight for a cleaner future.
Cooran State School mates George Facer and Carter Mason share a common goal.
They want to see a huge reduction in single use plastic on the Sunshine Coast.
The boys last year participated in the Minister’s Climate Challenge where they presented their eco-friendly tourist pack concept to the former US Vice President Al Gore, Minister Environment Leeanne Enoch and Atlassian co-founder and Billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes.
The goal of the eco-friendly tourist pack initiative, otherwise known as EPAC, is to reduce the reliance on single-use plastics.
The EPAC includes a collapsible water bottle, coconut bowl, wooden cutlery, reusable coffee cup and full-size beach towel.
“We’re really passionate about solving climate change and waste – instead of just talking about the problem we wanted a real solution, so we started the EPAC,” George said.
With the support of 2040 and That Sugar Film filmmaker Damon Gameau, the Coast primary school students have created a two-minute video outlining their project.
