Can Andrew re-qualify for Championship Tour?

SURFING: All of the Sunshine Coast’s surfers engaged in the 6000 point Supergirl Pro Qualifying Series event in the United States have now bowed-out of the competition.

World Surf League Championship Tour surfer Keely Andrew, former CT competitor Dimity Stoyle, junior world champion Isabella Nichols and CT aspirant Sophie McCulloch all made it through to round five, but would bow-out in four-surfer heats.

Andrew now sits in fourth position on the QS rankings, with the top six qualifying for next year’s Championship Tour.

She could re-qualify by finishing in the top 10 on this year’s CT and currently sits in 15th position.

The tour rookie has showed promise in five of the 10 CT events this season, including a fourth placing in Brazil.

She will now take part in the Vans US Open of Surfing in California, which is scheduled to start on Monday night.

Nichols is now ranked 10th on the QS rankings, but is less than 200 points behind the sixth-placed surfer.
