Bring out competitive spirit on the water

THE non-profit Maroochy River Rowing Club is run by volunteers who are providing a real opportunity for Sunshine Coast students to get fit and compete on the water.

The club started in July 2012 to cater for the absence of rowing opportunities for school students on the Coast.

Rowing is an Olympic sport which requires reasonable co-ordination and discipline in which a full body exercise uses legs, trunk and arms to propel the boat.

Being a non-contact sport, injuries are rare.

Maroochy River Rowing Club is centrally based at Muller Park, Bli Bli, and with quick access to the motorway, the club volunteers coach students from 20 schools from across the region.

The club runs regular "learn to row" courses to introduce interested students (from Year 7 upwards) to this exciting sport.

Those interested in joining a beginners' course or needing further information can contact Russell Muller on 0408 710810 for the next course start date.
