BREAKING: Dream call-up for Coast speedster
RUGBY UNION: Sunshine Coast Grammar School graduate Tate McDermott has been included in Australia's 13-man squad for this weekend's Wellington Sevens.
The speedy back impressed at a recent camp with the Australian squad and is now on a plane to New Zealand where he is expected to make his debut.
At 17, McDermott will be the youngest member of the squad, which also includes Sunshine Coast talent, Brisbane-based Conor Mitchell.
McDermott was a Grammar Rugby Player of the Year and former Australian Schoolboy 7s representative.
He last week completed a week of training with the Queensland Reds' senior squad, after he was picked in the under-20s side at the end of 2016.
More to come.
