Bread truck hits car, rolls, shuts down major Coast road
A BREAD truck has hit a parked car, careered through a fence, and flipped, shutting down a major Sunshine Coast road.
Emergency crews were called to Nicklin Way in Warana just before 1am to after reports that a truck had crashed and rolled.
Police, fire crews, and ambulance officers arrived to find the truck lying on its side with the male driver still inside.
A QFES spokesman told the Daily that a spine board stretcher was used to free the man from the truck's cabin.
Fire crews then discovered a fuel leak and disabled the truck's battery to prevent any further danger.
After he was freed, the driver was assessed by paramedics and taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment.
He suffered head injuries but was transported to hospital in a stable condition.
No one else was injured in the crash.
Police closed the northbound lanes of Nicklin Way to upright the truck, reopening all lanes just before 4.30am.
Forensic crash investigators arrived on scene at 2.15am, and investigations are continuing.
