Birthday visit turns to deadly shooting

KAREN Gordon and her partner William Gethin-Jones' visit to Tewantin to drop off birthday presents and catch up with family ended with a police shooting on the street.

The two detailed during separate appearances at a Coroner's inquest yesterday how their visit to Ms Gordon's daughter Teegan Gordon and Teegan's partner Thomas Logan turned to terror on November 23 last year.

"We were only at the house a very short amount of time and everything went from being fine one minute to not," Ms Gordon said.

Edward Wayne Logan, Thomas' father, became increasingly agitated during an argument with Teegan.

Ms Gordon recalled Logan's response when Teegan told him she would ring the police.

"I know he said the police wouldn't be taking him unless he was in a body bag."

The dispute turned violent, with Logan threatening people with knives and punching and kicking Ms Gordon and her daughter.

They climbed over a back fence into a neighbour's yard while Logan damaged property at the front of the home.

Police arrived and fatally shot Logan about 2.23pm.
