Berry’s time to shine in NFL as Steelers hit 49ers
FORMER NRL star Jarryd Hayne has had all the headlines but it was fellow Aussie Jordan Berry who took the points as the Steelers smashed Hayne's San Francisco 49ers 43-18 in round two of the NFL in Pittsburgh.
Expected to be given more game time after injuries to No.2 running back Reggie Bush (calf) and punt returner Bruce Ellington (ankle), Hayne was left cooling his heels for much of the game by coach Jim Tomsula.
From the few chances he had, Hayne finished with one punt return for seven yards, and two carries at running back for three yards.
He also claimed a fair catch from one punt from Berry, marking the first time one Australian had punted to another in an NFL game.
Berry (pictured), who grew up in Melbourne playing Aussie rules, was solid, his three punts averaging 44 yards with the longest at 62.
The 49ers' next game is against the Cardinals in Arizona on Monday morning.
