Beauty pageant has fairy tale ending for Erin

AN OVERSEAS trip for a beauty pageant turned out to be much more for Marcoola resident Erin Stanfield.

Erin headed to London and then Paris in April with the hope of becoming the Face Of The Globe 2016.

After a year of hard work Erin was crowned the international winner, but that wasn’t where her trip ended.

"It was very exciting and pretty surreal to win," she said.

"Being crowned on stage at Disneyland in Paris was just the icing on the cake for a wonderful 12 months, and then the next day, not even 24 hours after I was crowned, I got engaged under the Eiffel tower.

"So the whole trip was a fairy tale."

Erin beat out 34 other girls to win the title which was judged on 10 different sections including, fitness, interviews and poise and elegance.

She will now spend her time travelling to different Face Of The Globe events as a mentor not competitor after she announced her retirement from pageants.

"I’ve officially retired," she said.

"I’ve achieved what I wanted to so I’ll be hanging up the crown and sash and look to work on the other side of pageantry as a coach and mentor and hopefully eventually the director of my own.

"I’ll now be travelling back and forth to the UK a few times to mentor other girls within Face Of The Globe and encourage them on their journeys."
