The 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera

FOR this week's blog, let's take a look around the 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, with this particular model being an Edizione Tecnica.

Like all of the Gallardo models, this variant features a 5.2-litre, 40 valve V10 engine that sits just before the rear axle, so technically speaking this is classed as a mid-engined car.

The engine is able to produce a mighty 419kW (562 hp) at 8000rpm and 540Nm of torque (398 lb-ft of torque) at 6500rpm.

Compare this to one of the Gallardo's main rivals, the Ferrari 458 Italia, which in fact produces the exact same power and torque figures from its 4.5-litre V8.

There are paddle shifters situated behind the steering wheel for manual control over the gearbox. Power is sent to all-four wheels, like most modern Lambos.

This particular Edizione Tecnica model also has a kerb weight of 1430 kilograms, which is exactly 100 kilograms lighter than the standard Gallardo LP560-4.

Lamborghini reduced the weight by putting it on a diet of carbon fibre and polycarbonate.

They used carbon fibre extensively on the interior and exterior, and they used polycarbonate on the side windows, rear window and on the transparent engine bonnet. Also, to save the tiniest bit of weight, they even used titanium wheel nuts.

All of that power and weight saving equates to a 0-100 kilometre per hour launch time of just 3.4 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 325 kilometres per hour (202 miles per hour).

Funnily enough, not only does the Ferrari 458 Italia have the same power and torque figures as the Gallardo Superleggera, but it also has the exact same top speed and 0-100kmh acceleration time.

Compared to a standard Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, the Edizione Tecnica features a fixed high rear wing, carbon-ceramic brakes, along with the roof arch and front air intakes painted in Arancio Argos over Nero Nemesis exterior paint.

Some other features that this Lamborghini is equipped with includes 19-inch, 10-spoke forged alloy wheels, a carbon fibre rear diffuser, four-wheel ABS along with traction and stability control, electronic brake force distribution, a full alcantara interior, dual-zone climate controls and much more.

The Gallardo series ended at the end of 2013 after being replaced by the more powerful, and arguably better looking Lamborghini Huracan. Even still, you can currently buy a 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Edizione Tecnica for about $350,000 AUD.
